Born in Singapore.
Nhawfal Juma'at makes conceptually driven artworks which is then translated into several necessary mediums. His works directly respond to the surrounding environment and uses everyday experiences (observing nature, the state of being, conversations, relationships between being qua space) from the artist as a starting point. Often these are framed instances that would go unnoticed in their original context.
With an attitude of a bricoler, Nhawfal acknowledges the potentiality of space qua object and expands it. The abstract visual language of his aesthetics uses shape, form, color and lines to create a composition that may exist with a degree of independence from visual references in this world.
This subtle minimalistic approach he creates, works in which a fascination with the clarity of content and an uncompromising attitude towards conceptual and minimal art can be found. The work is aloof and systematic and a cool and neutral imagery is created.
He also occasionally plays and writes for a local crust punk band.
